The Bitch Is Back!

Tomb Raider, 2013

Yes, she is! After a relatively disappointing Underworld (probably my second least favorite, after Angel of Darkness) Lara Croft is gracing our screens yet again.

The game-play in this one is supposed to be like nothing we’ve seen from the ‘Tomb Raider’ franchise before.

SOME REVIEWS

This is Lara’s origin story, and for readers keen to know my opinion without reading further, it’s vastly superior to many recent adventure games and is comprehensively brilliant.

We’ve seen Lara Croft in many forms over the years, from busty action-heroine to Atlantean explorer to wise-cracking aristocrat. But we’ve never seen her like this before. Crystal Dynamics’ new Tomb Raider sees a young Lara on her first expedition, shipwrecked and stranded on an island bristling with danger, pushed to the limits of her ingenuity and will to survive. Over the course of the game we see this intelligent, resourceful young woman become something closer to the Lara Croft we know, fearless in the face of danger. It is a greatly successful origin story, a series reboot that feels both authentic and hugely exciting.

About the Gameplay:

Tomb Raider is an open world game that combines action-adventure, elements (including character progression, skills upgrades, side-quests and craft system), platforming, exploration, and survival mechanics. During a Twitter session with fans, Karl Stewart said that the game’s campaign will last between 12 and 15 hours.[6] Along with the main story, players will have the chance to do multiple side quests, explore the island, revisit places, and search for challenge tombs. It has also been confirmed that fire will be a major tool in the game along with a bow and arrow and a gun.

I cannot wait to get this game! It’s out today (I think) but I won’t be able to pick it up until next week and god knows when I’ll be able to play it but as soon as that game is finished, I’ll post a review of it… just ’cause I never do anything for the gamers 🙂
